In 2017 the festival hosts 4 kunjiels in 4 different locations on Quandamooka Country, Winnam, Nandeebie and Goompi. All celebrate First Nations' song and dance.

Yura Yalingbila, Welcome the Whales

You are invited to be part of the ceremony, enjoy whale-watching cultural tours, Traditional dance, arts, weaving, workshops, kids activities, good food, sand art and more. Live music by special guest artist co-writer/composer of Australia’s popular song “My Island Home” song-man Neil Murray, along with local female duo Blacksalt presenting smooth soulful harmonies. Winnam NAIDOC Kunjiel (Corroboree)

A gathering by Moreton Bay celebrating Indigenous cultures through dance, music, arts and more. The Quandamooka people host First Nation dance groups from mainland Australia and Pacific nations to showcase their distinct traditions. Enjoy a free family day of Aboriginal and Islander art and craft activities, including sand art, cultural dance workshops, art workshops, food and craft markets and more. Indigenous Culture Day Cruise

Meeanjin (Brisbane City) to Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)

A luxurious, fully catered, Indigenous culture day cruise of Quandamooka sea and land. Cruise the waters from the heart of Brisbane City, Meeanjin, down the river and accross Moreton Bay to North Stradbroke Island, Minjerribah. On board, a Quandamooka guide will welcome guests to Country and speak of traditional culture as we travel. Small group workshops on Didgeridoo playing, Traditional weaving and Jandai language will take place.

Kunjiel (Corroboree) Closing Ceremony

Indigenous art and weaving activities, bush tucker, stalls, art and crafts, and fun. This year’s Kunjiel is also pleased to present live music performances by artists from the lexicon of Aboriginal Australia’s discography including Black Arm Band, Roger Knox & Band, Adam James Band, Joe Geia, Quandamooka spoken-word artists, special ‘surprise guests’ and more.

Gala Whale Welcoming Dinner

In 2017, for the first time, we invite you to experience the Quandamooka Festival Gala Dinner Experience. WANTOK MUSIK – Melanesian Showcase

SEPTEMBER 17th from 4pm

Redland Performing Arts Centre, 2–16 Middle St, Nandeebie (Cleveland)

Join us for a night of Melanesian music, dance and food when WANTOK Musik performs on the weekend of Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) Independence. Enjoy contemporary and traditional Melanesian musicians, including George Telek (PNG), Charles Maimarosia (Solomon Islands) and Tio (Vanuatu), along with many other musicians from PNG and West Papua. They will be joined by local musicians and artists from Quandamooka Country. Tickets: $30.
